Las Vegas Guild Minutes - January 13, 2013

With 11 members present, the Las Vegas Opera Guild held its half year meeting. The meeting was held January 13, 2013 at the home of Frances Casey.

Meeting started at 2 PM and was presided by President, Frances Casey.

Treasurer's Report reported by Ursel Albers.

$1529.96 in bank for the Santa Fe Opera Company

$510 held in the Helmut Schmidt account for a scholar ship

$700 is grant money for educational purposes.

Membership: 76

Post Office: It was voted to close the present Post Office box at the end of the rental period and Gerti Johe will add the Guild to her P. O. Box 3206. This will save the Guild $70. Motion made by Gerti and seconded by Karen Topping. Motion passed.

Youth Nights: Our Guild will again be given 50 tickets. The ratio is 1 adult to 5 youths. Louise Drlik will again chair this program. Information will be sent out as it is received.

Preview Dinners: This year Ursel will ask for 5 operas and for the dates to be in August. There will be a captain and 5 members for each night. More information later.

Guild Night for Opening Night at the Opera: The date is June 28, 2013. The Guild was asked to have a table of 8 for the Buffet. More information will be sent and a questionnaire will be sent to members on this subject by Karen Topping.

Helmut Schmidt Funds: The membership voted to provide a Scholarship of $500 to a member of the YOUNG VOICES. Kyle Gray will be contacted for more information on how and when to accomplish this project.

Grant Money for Education: The Guild has $700 grant money for Education. Plans are being discussed on how to spend these funds. Dr. Bell is interested in presenting a program for the guild and others in the community. This program could be offered at Billingsley Engineering. Karen will be chairman and investigate the possibility of having this program.

APPRENTICE PROGRAM: The program will be presented at SALA DE MADRID, Sunday, April 28 at 2P.M.
